With their bandit's mask and ringed tail, Raccoons are one of North America's most charismatic and recognizable species. Raccoons are found in almost every major habitat in the continental United States and have adapted very well to urban neighborhoods. At least as intelligent as cats or dogs, raccoons possess far greater manual dexterity as well as a highly developed sense of touch and are able to pick locks, unscrew lids, and open doors.

Wildlife Lectures



Lecture topics focus on local wildlife species and promote wildlife conservation by teaching the community about the beauty and value of our wildlife here in San Diego. Lectures take place the first Saturday of the month from 9:30-11:00am at San Diego Humane Society's San Diego Campus, 5500 Gaines Street.
