Education Department Receives Grant

The Project Wildlife Education Department received a grant from Las Patronas for $8,000 for the creation of an educational video. "We're very excited about receiving this grant. Las Patronas has given money to many worthwhile organizations over the years and Project Wildlife is honored to be one of this year's recipients," said Ruth Hayward, Board member and Education Department Liaison.

This video will be used to supplement the Education Department's presentations by showing animals and situations that would not otherwise be seen by the public. In addition, the video can be sent to schools when the team can not be there in person. "We will be able to educate tens of thousands of school kids on coexisting with our native wildlife and respect for the environment," said Ruth.

Wade Smith and his company, Wade Smith Productions, have agreed to donate half of the cost of the video, which includes the use of the cameras and editing equipment, as well as the actual filming. "In order to capture on film the rehabilitation process, followed by the release of the animal, many hours of filming will be required at a substantial cost," said Rebecca Glissman, Project Wildlife's Development Director. "If not for the generosity of Wade Smith and Las Patronas, Project Wildlife couldn't afford to create this educational video. We are so grateful to them."
