"The time will come when men such as i will look upon the murder of animals as they now look upon the murder of men."

Leonardo da Vinci

A Letter From the President

Dear Friends,

We can all share a tremendous pride for the accomplishments of Project Wildlife during the past year. Our major achievement was rebuilding our Care Facility at the San Diego Humane Society. This new facility could not have been realized without the loyal support from you - our members, donors and friends.

Although we rescued over 11,000 animals this year, a worrisome situation that has been developing over the past few years has now deteriorated into a genuine crisis. The heavy traffic on our roads and freeways prevent many people in North County from bringing orphaned and injured animals to our facility in Mission Valley. Presently, we are discussing an additional Wildlife Care Facility with North County animal shelters and humane societies. These agencies believe that the presence of Project Wildlife will help to stop the rash of wild animal abuse, as well as lead to the rescue and rehabilitation of even more wildlife. All of these agencies are willing to help us, but building a new permanent facility takes time.

Your generous support in the past has helped us to care for thousands of orphaned, injured and sick wild birds and mammals. Your donation now will enable us to purchase and equip a Mobile Emergency Care Unit and expand our important work in North County. This much-needed vehicle will be stationed at various scheduled locations throughout the week to accept animals from the public and provide emergency care for animals in distress. It will also stop at the humane societies and Animal Control to pick up animals, before heading back to the San Diego Care Facility. This mobile "lifeline" will save the lives and reduce the suffering of countless wild animals.

Only by working together can we make a difference in the lives of San Diego County's precious native wildlife. Thank you for your generosity!

Sincerely,

Patty Thorpe
President
Project Wildlife Board of Directors

A Special Thank You

A huge, heart-felt "Thank You" goes out to Dan Williams, David Booth of Boothcrafters Inc., and Marilyn and Steve Wydell of Clear Signs. These generous individuals are responsible for the beautiful new Project Wildlife sign at the Care Facility.

Debbie Beam, our Care Facility manager, was given estimates of several hundred dollars to over a thousand for the sign, but thanks to the thoughtfulness of Dan, David, Marilyn & Steve, Project Wildlife & the animals were saved that expense.

On behalf of the wild birds and mammals, Thank You!
